WHAT IF?
Below are some examples of situations that may pop up during your clean and examples of suggested answers.
The most important thing to remember is that everyone is still learning. Always remember to address clients and co workers with respect and patience.
If you come across one we should add, let us know! Has anything happened and we can share your response to help your teammates? Knowledge is power!
Politely address the client from at least 6 feet away. “Hi there, I am preparing to clean this level. Our new protocol asks that areas be vacant for at least 15 minutes before I enter. Are you wanting me to skip it or is there another space you can go until I am done?
Politely address the client from at least 6 feet away “Hi there, to ensure that I can properly sanitize an area it does need to be cleaned first. I have cleaned it but haven’t had a chance to sanitize there yet. Are you okay with me skipping this area today? Or would you prefer to leave it clean and I can sanitize it within the next ___ minutes?” Give timeline based on how much longer you have left on that level?
Promptly find the home owner and from at least 6 feet away politely address them. Hi there, one part of my job that I miss is getting to know my clients and their families better but our new safety protocols ask that we work alone in an area. Your little one (s) are just being curious/helpful but for everyone’s safety can I ask that they join you in this other room?
“With proper hand washing, gloves are not necessary for cleaning and safety. With access to soap and water and our hand sanitizer we are making sure to follow proper procedures to prevent cross contamination. I have made sure to clean my hands whenever necessary for both of our safety.”
“I feel most comfortable wearing gloves for both of our safety. I have been trained to properly put on and take off (don and doff) all of my PPE safely. I have washed my hands prior to putting them on and will again once taking them off. I have also changed gloves whenever necessary to prevent cross contamination.”
“My mask can help prevent me from unconsciously touching my face as well as help prevent coming into direct contact with any spray particles that get stirred up while cleaning.”
Politely address the client from at least 6 feet away. “Hi there, I am almost finished up for today. I will just be mopping myself out and then need a few minutes to sanitize all of my supplies and equipment. I should be out of your way in the next ___ minutes. Thank you for having me in and have a great day!”
Quickly gather your things, and exit the the home. Sanitize all of your items including your hands and call the office to let them know.
If there is someone that can see/hear you, politely let them know that it is against company policy for you to be there if anyone in the home is sick and that the office will be in contact with them.
